For some years I have had dupuytren,s contracture..Last year it worsened significantly in my right hand. I have always been nervous about having an operation but I am now 87 and decided to go ahead. I was very fortunate that Mr. Naqui was recommended to me He was very helpful and reassuring in explaining the process and its implications.. I had the operation under local anaesthetic. It obviously requires very delicate surgery but now, about 6 weeks later, the stitches are barely visible, my hand is back to its normal shape and I am able to handle most activities. This is clearly a result of Mr Naqui,s great skill but also is due in large measure to the quality of the aftercare that he provides. The expertise, skill and support provided by his team of physiotherapists was an essential part of the success of my operation. I made good decision to have the operation my thanks to Mr. Naqui and his team.

I was referred to Mr Naqui after suffering from arthritis pain in my thumb for roughly 5 years. Family circumstances prevented me from seeking a surgical opinion sooner and steroid injections had kept the problem at bay on and off. Following a review of X-rays with those performed two years previously it was clear there was a marked deterioration and surgery was the only way forward. The procedure was explained and I signed my consent form. I was advised the waiting list was around 6 weeks, and it was precisely that. The procedure was done as a Daycase under a general anaesthetic. I believe surgery took about 90 minutes. On waking my hand was heavily bandaged with a POP cast covering the surgery site. Post op pain was manageable. Movement obviously restricted due to the cast. Stitches removed after 10 days after when a removable splint was applied which made for easier washing and exercises. 9 weeks on I am thoroughly delighted with the outcome. I have full movement. Minimal residual pain, which I know will reduce further. When my left hand needs doing in the future I will not hesitate to ask to be referred to Mr Naqui again.

I have had a carpel tunnel operation on my right hand and just over a month later on my left hand. The left hand is absolutely wonderful now and the right hand is greatly improved. Unfortunately my right hand had got into a real mess before I had the operation as I had had the problem for a few years but I am hoping with time it will be just as good as the left hand. Mr Naqui was excellent and the Spire Hospital was amazing with the care and information before and after the operation.
